The BAAC is the Thai government’s premier rural
development bank and is responsible for supporting farmer-producers,
fisher folk and other rural workers and for promoting finance-related
initiatives in rural development. The bank’s operations closely
follow the major principles of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy,
which is advanced and espoused by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej
(King Rama IX).
The five agricultural credit associations organizing this event
have agreed to focus on the theme, “the Contribution of Agricultural
and Rural Economies to Sustainable and Equitable Development.”
This world congress is therefore an occasion for the chief executive
officers and top management of financial institutions and international
experts all over the world to exchange their experiences, knowledge
and technology in rural and agricultural finance. This event is
likewise an occasion for the international development partners,
the business sector and private enterprises to showcase their
products and services as well as enhance their business relationships,
which are expected to lead to a more expanded level of interaction
in the world.
I wish the delegates a successful world congress as I invite
